IHBC’s Student Award site ‘responsive’, for desktop & mobile use

The IHBC Gus Astley Student Award website, which carries current information and resources on our Student awards programme, has been made ‘responsive’ so it will automatically response to how users are accessing it, whether desktop or mobile.

IHBC Director Sean O’Reilly said: ‘As part of the IHBC’s ongoing investment in keeping our member services and sector support up-to-the-minute, our IT team is making sure our web sites stay ‘mobile–friendly’ while also remaining easily accessible on desktop or laptop.  Our ‘Webstarter’, the accessible interface for users less familiar with our 30,000 or so web pages, led the way for us as well as the sector.  Now members and users can experience that integration in our Student Award website.’

‘This staged programme of service improvement now means that our IHBC Gus Astley Student Award site has just been made responsive to accommodate how users are accessing it.  This offers a smoother transition when travelling across different technologies and platforms, which is increasingly important as our members continue to respond to the digital revolution.  It is especially important for our Student Award website, as early career conservation specialists and students demand more flexibility in how they access our information, and more clarity in how they interpret it.’

‘This development also offers a more streamlined management system inside the IHBC, which reduces costs for members even as member services expand.   So, as ever in conservation, keeping pace with new technologies means that we can all do a better job of managing older places.’
